Rovaniemi is the capital of Lapland in northern Finland. It's a modern city known for being the "official" home town of Santa Claus, and for viewing the Northern Lights. It's a magical place full of Christmas spirit year-round, and where you can meet reindeer up close or try your luck at husky sledding.

After arriving at Rovaniemi Airport, meet your driver for your private transfer to your hotel, conveniently located along the promenade, you are within walking distance to most attractions as well as cafes and shops. The remainder of the day is free to explore the town. One option is the fascinating Arktikum, which is much more than a museum. It's also a science center and a popular culture destination, with exhibits that provide the history and culture of Lapland and Arctic life. For the children, consider a visit to the Angry Birds Activity Park, an open-air playground inspired by Angry Bird figures and an easy walk from the hotel. After an afternoon of exploring, dinner is on your own this evening. And there's an array of dining options; from sampling local Lappish cuisine to bistros, pizza, and even Tex-Mex.

As a start of the day you will be taken to a reindeer farm where you will hear more about reindeer husbandry and Lappish culture. You can take a reindeer ride and attend a special ceremony of crossing the Arctic Circle. Later, the trip continues by car to Santa Claus Village, giving you time to stroll through the village and explore handicraft and souvenir shops. You'll have an opportunity to send postcards from Santa Claus's Main Post Office. During the day you get to meet Santa Claus himself and given time to enjoy a delicious lunch in a cozy restaurant. In addition, before returning to your hotel, you'll receive a certified "Diploma" for crossing the Arctic Circle.

Today, enjoy a wintertime safari with husky teams. Just a short drive from the town, you will arrive to a husky ranch, where these friendly dogs will bark an enthusiastic welcome to you. You have seen these awesome sled dogs in films; now you will be their musher. Most of the dogs are Alaskan huskies, although there are some Siberian huskies - the breed that most people envisage when they think of huskies. Before departing on the safari, you will be given instructions on how to control the sleds, which you will ride in pairs. You'll learn some of the commands given to the lead dog as well as his responsibilities, as well as the distance that the dogs normally run and their maximum speed. At the end of the ride, enjoy some hot berry juice by an open fire and chat with the head musher about these amazing northern animals once you return to the ranch.
