Perugia to Norcia:

After breakfast, a full day touring awaits you. You'll have a private transfer to Norcia, a historic walled town nestled in the Umbrian hills. En route, we'll stop at the hilltop town of Assisi, a world UNESCO Heritage site and the birthplace of St Francis, Italy's patron saint. You'll visit the most impressive attraction, the Basilica of St Francis with stunning frescoes of his life, while his tomb lies in the lower level. You'll also visit the massive Rocca Maggiore, which sits at the top of Assisi. It's a 14th-century castle which provides the perfect spot for panoramic views, including Perugia, about 13 miles away.

We move on to Spoleto, a hidden gem, and regarded to be the purest of all the Italian cities, not having been spoiled by tourism. You'll view the Roman amphitheater, dating back to the 2nd century, the ancient Rocca, Albonoziano (fortress) which was built in the 14th century, and the Palazzo Racani Arroni; one of the most beautiful palaces in Spoleto. Before arriving in Norcia, we'll pause for a wine tasting in Montefalco. Considered to be one of the most beautiful villages of Italy, it's recognized for its famous red wine, the Sagrantino di Montefalco.

Late in the afternoon, you'll arrive at the 4* Palazzo Seneca; a stately 16th century palace conveniently located off the main Piazza Benedetto. You'll notice that there is no formal reception area, so new arrivals are greeted in the entry hall like friends. After settling in, you may consider dining at the property this evening, as boasts the finest restaurant in Norcia, the Michelin-starred, Vespasia.

This is the perfect place to sample some of the regions famous products like salami, black truffle, wild boar, and rare mountain cheeses. Returning to the villa, enjoy an aperitif and taste the Birra Nursia. Brewed by the Benedictine monks, all funds earned go towards the construction of a new monastery that will replace the one that was completely destroyed in the 2016 earthquake. Try your luck at truffle hunting, or for something more sedate, take advantage of their candlelit spa located in their historic vaulted cellars. As a guest, you'll have free use of the stone hot tub and the Turkish bath and sauna. For an additional fee, you can be massaged by a trained naturopath.
