It's most convenient to arrive by air from Oslo. Tromsø is Northern Norway's largest city, located 200 miles north of the Arctic Circle. After arrival, check into your hotel, the 4-star Scandic Ishavshotel, located overlooking the harbor and offering great views of the surrounding mountains and the night sky.

Today is a free day to explore on your own. Some of the principal attractions are: the Cathedral of the Arctic, constructed of concrete; Polaria, the world's most northerly aquarium, housed in a strikingly modern building; and the Arctic-Alpine Botanical Gardens.
This evening, you'll set out on a Northern Lights Tour, going into the countryside with a small group to seek out the best views of the Aurora Borealis. Escape the city lights and gather around a campfire to experience one of the wonders of the Arctic.
