Set your alarm clock for your 2am departure from your hotel to the starting point for your Sunrise Trekking on Batur Volcano hike. The friendly guides will be there at the base of Mount Batur to welcome you, provide you with the necessary equipment, and take you through a thorough safety briefing. Then you'll turn on your flashlights and set off in the cool, early morning darkness. The first section takes you uphill through volcanic ash, sand and small rocks.
