Bangkok:

Visit two of the most important sights of Bangkok. Begin with the Reclining Buddha at Wat Pho, a giant lying Buddha covered in gold leaf. Continue to the Grand Palace, a must see for every visitor to Bangkok. Located close to the banks of the Chao Phraya River (The River of Kings), the Grand Palace is the perfect example of an ancient Siamese court. Within the compound is the Temple of The Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) which houses Thailand's most precious image of the Lord Buddha. In the afternoon, you'll meet your guide at the hotel for an exciting Local Gourmet Evening Tour.

NOTE: Important: Please note that for visiting the Grand Palace you will be required to wear proper attire (no bare shoulder bare knees or strapless-heel shoes). Shoes must be removed before entering all temple buildings as a matter of respect.

Please note: A surcharge may be applied for hotels located outside the city center areas of Prathunam, Silom, lower Sukhumvit and Riverside.

PHUKET

On this private food walking tour, discover Phuket town's wide selection of rustic food courts, side-street stalls, and markets that make it a hot-spot for local delicacies. Many stalls have been run by the same family for generations, their ancestors bringing dishes from India, China, and Malaysia and you'll learn how dishes have been adapted to reflect Thai ingredients and influences.

Sample Moo ping (marinated grilled pork), a popular local choice eaten straight off the skewer served alongside a variety of barbequed sausages and chicken satays. The haw mok are a surprise - though they resemble little custard tarts, they're actually filled with crab or fish mousse and served with coconut milk, all neatly wrapped in a banana leaf.

Stroll around Phuket Old Town, taking in the rows of grand Sino-colonial (Dutch architecture with a Chinese influence) mansions of successful tin miners. Amid the historic buildings are quirky cafes where you can try oliang - a Thai iced coffee made with condensed milk. The Thai Hua Museum is a good option if you're interested in learning more about the confluence of cultures on the island whilst the Phuket mining museum is a good excuse to explore the lavish Portuguese mansion it's housed in. Visit on a Sunday and the Lard Yai, or 'big market' is open, showcasing everything from herbs and vegetables to fluorescent t-shirts.
