Your guide picks you up early for a drive through verdant farmland to the wild and scenic Pacuare Rive. After a stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast, you reach the edge of the tropical rainforest inside the protected Pacuare area, where you get a short course in whitewater rafting and rafting safety. Soon, you and your river guide are gliding past tropical foliage, colorful birds and butterflies, and through some Class II and III rapids. Perched on the banks of the river is Pacuare Lodge, considered one of the world's premier eco-lodges, with palm thatch roof. Your private jungle bungalow has a river view and a welcome drink waiting. Enjoy a gourmet lunch, then relax or take a zipline canopy tour of the treetops. Dinner is served with candlelight, Champagne and a serenade by tree frogs. Fall asleep to the sounds of the river outside your window.

Wake up to the sound of birds singing and enjoy a hot breakfast served in the privacy of your bungalow. Today you'll choose two activities. Nature lovers may want to start before breakfast with a daybreak birdwatching tour. Other options are to visit the nearby Cabécar Indian palapa, for an introduction to the local indigenous culture, or hike to the closest farming community to experience a bit of rural Costa Rican life. Outdoor adventure options include the Canopy Adventure Tour, which takes you gliding between treetop platforms on cables, or Tropical Canyoning, which combines hiking, rock climbing and rappelling. Hikers have several options to choose from: the Cabécar Indian Hike, a more demanding hike to an isolated indigenous home deep in the forest; or the Ancient Trail and Hidden Waterfall Hike, which heads higher into the mountains to a secret waterfall and takes most of the day. Departure between 9:00-10:00 am. In the morning you will depart by raft for an even more fun-filled day of white water rating excitement (approximately 3 1/2 hours over class III-IV rapids), including a delicious picnic lunch along the river. At our river take-out you will have a chance to change at our private facilities before being transferred by private minibus back to your hotel. Arrival back in San Jose between 5:30-6:30 pm.
