A short distance away is the Palace of Holyrood, steeped in Scottish history and home to the British Royal family. Between them runs the Royal Mile, the main thoroughfare of Old Town, lined with shops, pubs, and historic monuments. Have your picture taken at the statue of Sherlock Holmes, as the author, Sir Conan Doyle was an Edinburgh native. For spectacular views, stop at Queens Park. Arthur's Seat sits in the center, and is the highest point in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh:
After a hearty Scottish breakfast, you'll have some time for independent exploring. Then a visit to the Castle; Scotland`s number one visitor attraction, which sits on its own volcanic rock at the top of the Royal Mile. And with your fast-track entry, there's no waiting in line.

View the Scottish Crown Jewels, the delightful St. Margaret's Chapel, the Stone of Destiny on which previous Scottish Monarchs were crowned, and many other historic buildings. A recent addition is the re-development of the Queen Anne Building including the Prisons of War Exhibition. Proudly conspicuous yet strangely secretive, it's a defiant fortress which manages nevertheless to welcome and charm.

Afternoon Tea at Edinburgh Castle is held in the elegant Tea Rooms at Edinburgh Castle, located in the castle`s Crown Square. You'll be served a pot of finest quality tea, accompanied by cucumber and cream cheese, and Ayrshire ham sandwiches, scones with jam and handmade cakes.

Pay a visit to the famous Holyrood Distillery for an exquisite tasting of fine whiskeys, or walk along the Royal Mile, showcasing the incredibly preserved architecture of 19th Century Edinburgh.

This evening, you will have the pleasure of attending the Tattoo: an iconic Edinburgh institution. It features music and dance with the Pipes and Drums, the Military Bands, cultural troupes, singers and the poignant refrain of the Lone Piper against the stunning backdrop of Edinburgh Castle.

Each and every Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo is different from the last, as it embraces different themes.
