Arrive Edinburgh:
After checking in to your hotel, get your bearings by taking advantage of the Hop-on Hop-off city tour, allowing you to stop along the route and explore many of the historic sites of this fascinating city. A good place to start is the Castle, the hilltop fortress, where one can walk the ramparts.
A short distance away is the Palace of Holyrood, steeped in Scottish history and home to the British Royal family. Between them runs the Royal Mile, the main thoroughfare of Old Town, lined with shops, pubs, and historic monuments. Have your picture taken at the statue of Sherlock Holmes, as the author, Sir Conan Doyle was an Edinburgh native. For spectacular views, stop at Queens Park. Arthur's Seat sits in the center, and is the highest point in Edinburgh.
