Svolvær:

After an early breakfast, meet your guide for a breathtaking ride through the fjords. Experience the magnificent Lofoten Islands by sea in the winter, learning all about the bountiful marine life. The tour starts with a lecture and slide show on local birds, mammals, geology, and climate in Lofoten. After the lecture, you'll board the boat and sail into the Vestfjord, and the Troll Fjord. In addition to stunning scenery, you're very likely to experience close encounters with the white-tailed sea eagle and many other seabirds. Returning to the port, the remainder of the day is free for relaxing or exploring the numerous art galleries.

At 6:30pm, meet your guide for a 90 minute walking tour of Svinøya. This historic town is the oldest part of Svolvær, and has been a thriving, vibrant fishing village since 1828. Your guide will provide an engaging commentary as well as answer questions such as; "Why do people live in Lofoten? What is stockfish and what do we do with it? How did the fishermen live 100 years ago, and what did a "rorbu" actually look like? What happened in the Trollfjord in 1890?" So enjoy the entertaining stories, ask questions, and don't forget to smell and taste the stockfish.
