Bangkok:

Meet your guide at your hotel for a private tour of the Grand Palace*. The home of the Kings of Siam since 1782, the Grand Palace is a must see for every visitor to Bangkok. The palace is located close to the banks of the Chao Phraya River (The River of Kings) and is considered the spiritual heart of the country as well. In fact the complex of elaborate buildings and temples are still used for ceremonial purposes. Within the compound, you'll view the Temple of The Emerald Buddha (Wat Pra Kaew) which houses Thailand's most precious image of the Lord Buddha.

The Emerald Buddha is believed to have supernatural powers and is dressed in robes according to the season by the King of Thailand himself. Notice the prominent golden spires reaching toward the sky and guarded by two giants from the Ramayana epic.

*Please note that for visiting the Grand Palace you will be required to wear proper attire (no bare shoulder bare knees or strapless-heel shoes). Shoes must be removed before entering all temple buildings as a matter of respect.

You will also have the option of taking this tour in the morning or afternoon.

Bangkok:

Free day at leisure before taking your night tour. Your day is free for independent sightseeing. Some of your options include a boat ride through the Saen Saep canal to the beautiful Lanna-style house of Jim Thompson, the man who brought Thai silk international recognition. Perhaps experience a traditional Thai massage done as well as expected in the country where it originated. An easy way to immerse yourself into Thai culture is learning the "wai". The wai (why), pressing your palms together at chest or nose level and bowing your head slightly, is a gesture that you will encounter almost everywhere.

Tonight, you'll be picked up from your hotel by Tuk Tuk* to explore Bangkok's markets, temples and food under the night lights! Seeing the sites at night brings out the true excitement, beauty and mystery of the city. You'll see some famous sights as well as hearing about local secrets. Your tour will include places most tourists only visit during the daytime including Wat Pho (The Temple of the Reclining Buddha). A stop will be made at a local market as well as the enormous Flower Market (the largest in Thailand), where the vivid colors come alive under the bright lights. Continue to explore Rattanakosin Island, passing by iconic sights such as the Giant Swing and Wat Suthat. Finally there is the food. As you go along, there will be time to sample some local snacks and noodles. After finishing your night tour, enjoy Thai traditional music live with the famous Thai signature "Yadong" cocktails at the Tep Bar.

*tuk-tuk: a mechanized three-wheeled taxi that can transport one through the city's many exotic and thrilling delights!
