Morning flight from Quito over the Eastern Cordillera and down into the airstrip at the town of Coca. Transfer to the Napo River port to board a motorized canoe for a ride downstream. Once aboard, the Manatee Amazon Explorer will begin navigating downstream. The Manatee sails through different ecosystems, and passes through important natural reserves such as the Yasuní National Park and the Limoncocha Biological Reserve. Enjoy your first delicious dinner onboard.

Morning disembarkation with a naturalist guide for a hike on terra firmae forest. The destination is an internal lagoon on the Yasuni National Park, to observe the different ecosystems. There will be an opportunity to swim and fish for piranha, before lunch. The return to the Napo River will be in a native canoe, rowing along a small black water creek. Return to the Manatee for dinner.

We will start the day off by visiting an authentic Kichwa family on the banks of the Napo River, where we will have the opportunity to learn directly from members of the local community. We will then board the Manatee for lunch as we continue upstream. Guests will participate in a cooking class with our expert chef and prepare exquisite traditional Ecuadorian cuisine. Guests are also invited to try their hand at traditional handicraft making, or enjoy our onboard facilities, including the Rainforest Spa, the spectacular view from our Amazon Hot Tub, cocktails at our Bar and Lounge, and stargazing from our Observation Deck.

In the morning, disembark to explore the nearby forest and discover a myriad of animals and plant species endemic to the Amazon basin. In the afternoon, we will visit a canopy tower built against a giant kapok tree and take in the view from the top as we loom above the lush treetops and look down on the sheer vastness of the Amazon. In the evening we will take a canoe onto the river to search for black caimans by flashlight.

While the Manatee navigates upriver, the guides will recap what you have learned during your Amazon experience. Then transfer back to the airport in Coca for your return flight to Quito.
